About the bowtie (a semi-tutorial)
I’ve always liked bowties. You see, most of my family are a bit eccentric. And my dad has worn a bowtie to work every day for as long as I can remember. I think this started when he was obsessed with Walter Gropius. But regardless, I have never seen my father in a normal tie (he seems to think they are ridiculous).
And as you probably know, I’m a bit of a nerd. So when the Doctor started wearing bowties in the newest season of Doctor Who, is when I decided it was time to try them out myself. He wears the pre-tied type though, that I’m taught is against the rules of gentlemen etiquette :D. Personally, I prefer the ones you have to tie as well, because I like how they’re not perfectly even! But nevermind that. Thanks to my dad and the BBC costume department for this newest obsession!
Making a bowtie is pretty easy. At least I thought so. I got it right one the first try, and I am not proficient at sewing. First of all: Burda has a nice free pattern to help you out (I used a vintage pattern I got on Etsy, but it shouldn’t be that different). The pattern is for an adjustable bowtie though, which seems a bit overly complicated for a bowtie that you only wear yourself!

I had to hand in an assignment today, so I had an excuse to dress up! I made a bowtie last weekend, and even though I was going to put off wearing it until my first oral exam, I couldn’t resist today! :D
Shirt: Zara
Bowtie: handmade
Dress: secondhand
Shoes: Plasticland
I’m also quite happy to finally be wearing this dress in a real outfit. I wear it all the time to hang out in my garden :D.
C’mon Let’s Go
Wow, I honestly had no idea my last post was two weeks ago! It’s the last weeks of classes and everything is chaos: getting assignments finished, trying (and failing) to study & prepare for finals. Yikes! But to make it up: I have two outfits today!
Lower dress: Tenki
Upper dress: Ann Salens (used to be my mom’s)
Boots: Topshop
This is one of those dresses that I’ve always really liked but hardly wore for yeaaaars. Ann Salens was a Belgian designer in the 70′s who specialized in crocheting etc. This is one of the few designer pieces my mom owned back when she was young, which is pretty cool.
I started wearing it this winter: it’s so warm, soft & comfy and actually quite perfect for cold days! I’m off to a ‘popcorn night’ at a friend’s tonight, so yay :D. (more…)
Jennie Bomb
Actually, I wore this two days ago D:. Eek, I’ve been so distracted with balancing school & a social life.
Shirt: secondhand
Skirt: handmade
Shoes: some fake brand
Well, this is a very casual outfit anyway, but there’s something about it that I really like. I think it’s the long sleeves. I rarely wear them because… I’m not even sure but I prefer short sleeves or none at all :D. Maybe I’m coming around?
Short skirt is short, but whatever, because the weather has been LOVELY :D.
Muddy Bubbles Hell
I’m back, you guys! :D London was pretty cool, we spent most of our time shopping (as usual!). Still dead tired, but wearing some of my new stuff!
Shirt: H&M
Cardigan: Topshop
Skirt: secondhand in Budapest
Shoes: Topshop
I’m superexcited about my new shoes. I’ve been wanting a pair exactly like this for a while now. Soooo perfect :D.
Flashback post!
I’m leaving for London in a few hours! :D Since I don’t have an outfit, yet wanted to make a post, I thought I’d do a flashback post. Tinytoadstool did one recently and it seemed like a nice idea.
Now, I have only had this blog for shortly over a year, but I started taking pictures of my outfits a looong time before that! I mostly posted them at Livejournal. Since most of these haven’t been posted here yet, and I was too lazy to be critical, there’s rather a lot! So I’m posting them in thumbnails and you can just click if you’re interested :D.

I’m sorry, I wish I had time to make it prettier but I haven’t even packed yet! Be back in a few days :D.
Marcia Baila
Dress: Zara
Shoes: Bullboxer
I went to a friend’s birthday party last night wearing this :D. I couldn’t take a picture with my own camera because of some ‘technical difficulties’, so blah.
Point of interest is obviously these shoes! They are the most kitschy items I own. I wear them like once every three years (so that they can live forever and still be sparkling on my cabinet when I’m old and wrinkly). Fake flowers and a face!

SUMMER IS HERE! Well, sort of. The weather has been gorgeous today and I am insta-happy. Oddly enough, I’m also more productive. This is against my usual summer mood, but I’m not complaining. You see, I really really need to pass most of my exams this semester and the Easter holidays are one of the few moments I have to study for them. In other words: this picture was taken in a five minute study break!
Shirt: Topshop
Skirt: Topshop
Shoes: Buygo
Both this skirt and top were bought at the first time I was in Topshop, ever. Aaah, the memories. It was the first summer after I got into fashion. I went to a very strict catholic school before, which made me awfully lazy about clothing. But I caught up in the end, right?
Koka Kola
So I just felt like wearing pastels/candy colours today :D.
Shirt: my grandfather’s attic
Dress: Givenchy for Legler
Shoes: Plasticland
Actually, I’m quite distracted because I’ve been looking at the pictures of my 2007 trip around Europe and I realize how much I want to take a longer journey again and discover lots of new places like I did then. University makes organization hard because there’s always the summer resits and some friends work and others (including me) need to study and blaaaargh. I’m hoping to organize a trip to Italy or Spain this summer but it’s hard when I don’t even know who’ll be able to tag along.
Sailorboy
As usual, the arrival of Spring brings out the sailor jacket! It remains one of my favourite jackets, even just in terms of sheer comfort (it’s a men’s jacket and slightly too big, which seems to help).
Jacket: used to be my father’s
Shirt: don’t remember?
Dress: shop in Camden Town
Boots: Sacha
