Astroboy
Today I signed up for those sewing classes I talked about some time ago. The first year seems really basic and it doesn’t look like I’ll be making anything interesting, but I’m still looking forward to learning some proper technique for once. We’re making pyjamas (very similar to the type I wear at home so yay, useful!), an apron (apparently very good for learning techniques, and it might turn out kinda cute) and a basic skirt. They’re evening classes, so they’re designed for people who have full-time jobs and families to feed.
I also like the idea of making a habit of sewing/making things again. Scheduled classes are good for things like that.
Dress: Camden Town, London
Shoes: Topshop
I really like this dress because of the cute green fabric, the lace and the wooden buttons. I don’t know if the fabric is supposed to actually be anything though XD.
Somehow religious imagery both creeps me out and fascinates me (I was raised in a 99% atheist family). My favourite of these necklaces is still the glass elephant though. My grandmother gave it to me in July. I guess it’s kind of hard to see in this picture. But it’s an elephant, and:

Also, apparently my blog was hacked or something during the weekend. Everything is fine, but since my tech support had to revert to a previous backup, some comments have gone missing. (And my book blog stopped working, but I think it’s unrelated. I’m kind of pissed at WordPress now though XD)
Knock Knock
I am seriously stressing about my exam tomorrow, because it’s really important that I pass and I have very little time to study for it. (Yes, I do always have exams) But I thought I’d take a little break and post yesterday’s outfit.
Shirt: found at my grandfather’s
Dress: secondhand market (shortened by me)
Shoes: Plasticland
… Okay, time to go back to studying. I think I might even skip some sleep tonight. Ack, university!
(Also, I’m trying to get a new theme/layout for this blog but I can’t find any that I like. I want one where I have to do minimum customization because I’m lazy XD)
Are we not men?
France was GORGEOUS and AWESOME. I pretty much spent all day walking and taking pictures. I’m already to go back sometime. Maybe I could camp there. I also tried to take some outfit pictures. They’re obviously limited, I never pack that much to travel.
Dress: secondhand market
Bag: made by Daphné
Shoes: Camper (more…)
Crazy people in LA
Last night I had my birthday party (the actual birthday isn’t until Tuesday, and then I’ll be 22 :o). I had a blast and got awesome stuff from everyone, so yay! Also, I have a huge blister on my feet and can barely walk. In an hour my aunt will be here and we’re going to the seaside for a few days to make long walks by the beach. OH CRAP.
Dress: Marmalade (bought at Mieke)
Kirby necklace: made by a friend
Shoes: Clarks (my mom’s)
This dress is basically my favourite new thing :D. It reminds me a lot of the dresses Shonen Knife wear <3. I told my mom this when I was buying it and the guy from the shop was all ‘I saw them live when they played with Nirvana in the nineties’ and I died a little. But a friend gave me an awesome Shonen Knife record last night and everything is right again! Have a video:
Mimobot
Finally, a new post! My summer job is over, so it’s time to put some effort into outfits again (slowly!). In the end, I really liked my job. I’m looking forward to applying again next year.
Jacket: H&M
Skirt: Kenzo (secondhand)
Shoes: Pomme d’Or
This is what I wore when my friend and I went to the travel agency to book a trip to Barcelona. Yes, Barcelona. I’m really looking forward to it. Culture won’t be be a problem, and neither will nightlife, but I’d love some shopping tips! So anyone who’s been there, let me know which places you liked. Food tips are welcome too.
I hope everyone’s having a good summer! I sure am. Fun job, lots of videogames (though not enough time to play them AACK) and friends/family. I started studying today though. I hate resits, I wish I were a better student and only had exams twice a year :D.
The World Ends With You
Dress: Dear Creatures at Mieke (local shop)
Boots: Sacha
This picture is two weeks old! I’m sorry guys. It’s just that I’m usually quite tired at the end of the day. Especially now, since the festival currently going on in my city (‘Gentse Feesten’), means that it’s the busiest time of year at the campsite.
I try not to overdress at work, and just put on a simple dress and shoes every day. But I still get questions like “Do you watch Sailor Moon?” & “Are you from art school?”. Is it that obvious? XD
Not that I watch Sailor Moon. But I was quite into manga back in high school, and Japanese street fashion was my biggest influence at the time. I guess it still shows :).
I hesitated to buy this dress because… it doesn’t have any colour. But I really love the collar and it’s so comfortable! I need to start taking detail shots again.
Fade Away and Radiate
Soo, my job started. I got sent to the camping, so now I have an entirely different job than last year. I liked my previous one better, to be honest. I prefer picking up trash for a month over dealing with customers XD. It’s still an okay job (so far), it’s just that I love being outside, even when it’s ridiculously hot (37°C today? And I was still the happiest the hour I was sent outside).
Shirt: Zara
Suspenders: some shop in Antwerp, years ago
Shorts: H&M
Shoes: some cheap brand but I honestly don’t know
But anyway, here’s what I wore to a barbecue with some of my classmates! I finally got to wearing my suspenders, yay! Also, a new shirt from when my mom and I went “sales shopping”. Which I horribly fail at. I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything on sale that I was truly happy with XD. Usually I just end up buying stuff from the full-priced collection (like this!). Oh well, I’ll just stick to vintage for the really cheap things.
In other news, I have my grades, and I passed five out of the six exams that I actually took (I skipped two because I’m a horrible student). Have pretty good grades too, though mostly for my English literature classes. It’s pretty obvious what I should major in :D.
Onipika heart
I’ve been away for a spell, I know. Exams started to get the better of me, and then there was some incredibly busy holiday fun :D. It’s also incredibly hot, so my outfit today is pretty simple.
Shirt: H&M
Skirt: Handmade
Shoes: Camper
So what I’m doing right now is basically enjoying my short summer holiday. Hanging out with friends and playing videogames. My job starts in a few days already, yikes! I don’t mind though, I can swim every day there :D.
Action Hero
Guess what I’m not wearing today?
Jacket: secondhand from father
Dress: Darimeya
Shoes: Pomme d’Or
It’s my glasses :D. So, yay contacts etc! (more…)
Boatedy boaty boat
So this is actually a photo from a while back, but I figured that anything would be good to keep this blog semi-alive while I’m suffering through exams :D.
Shirt: Sonia by Sonia Rykiel (oooh em geee!)
Dress: secondhand
Shoes: Sacha
My mom bought the shirt for me in London, while my brother and I were off to the Rough Trade record store. It’s very comfortable and it’s got a BOAT on it so it’s awesome :D. (not to mention that the boat is pink and blue, which means that the shirt should be this blog’s mascot or something XD)
Today, I had an oral exam and while I did wear a pretty cute outfit with a bowtie and everything, I was so tired/hungry/warm by the time I got home that I reaaaally couldn’t be bothered to take a photo of it. (The exam went… okay, I think, though oral assignments will always be difficult for me, especially when it’s a subject you can’t study for aack).
I hope you’re all doing well! (also, if you feel like it, feel free to tell me what you think would be your site’s mascot :D)
